Tour 1 day Wines and Castles
Ready to discover the Terroir of the Loire Valley? Let’s go for this 1 day Discovery Tour!
9am: visit of the Chateau de Chambord, the largest Renaissance Castle in the Loire Valley. 440 rooms, 282 chimneys, 82 staircases including the famous double helix staircase attributed to Leonard da Vinci himself. A real treasure right in the middle of the Sologne forest.
11.30am: Wine tasting at the Cheverny House of Wines, tasting different producers from the same appellation to get a better feel of the wines of this area: 3 whites, 1 rose, 3 reds.
12.30pm Lunch in a restaurant between Chambord and Cheverny. Menu with an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert, accompanied by a glass of wine.
2pm: Discovering the Chateau de Cheverny, a palace typical of the first half of the 17th century (Classical era). The Chateau still belongs to the family of its founders (they still live inside!), the Marquis Hurault de Vibraye. They operate it 365 days a year. Come wander in its English-style park, peep at the 140-dog kennel who gets ready for hunting season, and take pictures of the 150000 tulips in March and April!
4pm: Wine tasting in Cour-Cheverny, where you will get to try the wine of King Francis I, named the Romorantin. Explanations of the work in the vineyards and of the region’s climatic conditions. Watch how they work in the winery and listen to the choices the winemaker has to make. We end with a tasting of 7 wines (3 whites, 1 rose, 3 reds) with a detailed analysis of each wine.
6pm: back to Blois, end of tour.
